Doctor of 听力学
The Doctor of 听力学 (AuD) serves either as preparation for professional clinical
audiology, including certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
(ASHA), or as preparation for additional graduate study leading to the PhD degree.
The AuD program provides a broad range of basic science courses and specialized offerings
emphasizing assessment, intervention, and prevention techniques used with patients
of all ages who have hearing or balance-related disorders. Students are prepared for
careers as clinicians in schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, private practice
and community clinics. Clinical practicum opportunities are provided at the on-campus
USA Speech and Hearing Center and in community private practice clinics, outpatient
clinics, rehabilitation centers, schools, and hospitals. Within this framework, students
must meet the academic and practicum requirements for national certification (the
Certificate of Clinical Competence in 听力学 [CCC-A] awarded by ASHA) and Alabama
State Licensure. The AuD program typically extends for 9 semesters including three
semesters of full-time clinical externship. Graduate Assistantships are available
annually on a competitive basis.
Applications for admission and graduate assistantships are accepted after August 1 with enrollment beginning in the Summer Semester only. The preferred deadline for receipt of application materials is December 15. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling timeline. Applications decisions will be made as complete applications are received and reviewed for a Summer program 开始.
- Complete the application process online through the Council of 学术 Programs in
Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service for Clinical
Education in 听力学 and Speech Language Pathology (CSDCAS). The preferred deadline
for receipt of application materials is December 15; however, applications will be
accepted and reviewed on a rolling timeline to begin the program in the Summer semester.
Applicants are responsible for verifying that all reference forms and official transcripts
have been received by CSDCAS.
- Applicants can choose to submit their official Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score to
increase the competitiveness of their application, including a score for the Analytical
Writing section. Submitted GRE scores should have been taken within 5 years of the
application date. Send your GRE scores from ETS to Department code 2691.
- 提交75美元.00 administration fee directly to the Department of Speech Pathology and
听力学. Applications will not be reviewed until the application fee has been received.
- After you have been accepted into the graduate program, submit the $250 nonrefundable
matriculation fee directly to the Department of Speech Pathology and 听力学 using
the link provided in your acceptance letter. Submission of this fee will reserve your
seat in the class and must be paid on or before April 15. Upon matriculation into
the program, this fee will be applied to your first semester tuition.

The AuD program meets the requirements for licensure in Alabama. We have not made a determination regarding whether the program meets licensure requirements in other 州.
